No new window. No heavy interface. SSH into Modlin™ Chat or use the native CLI and keep talking from the place where you already work.
The same conversation can move between local networking, Internet transports, and carrier messaging when the network needs a different path.
LAN, UDP, TCP, WebRTC, and other direct paths can be used when they are available.
When direct communication is not possible, Modlin™ Chat can use an available carrier path such as RCS, SMS, or MMS.
Messages, connection status, and the people you talk to—without turning a private conversation into a social network.
The product stays quiet so the conversation can be the focus.
From peer-to-peer messaging and end-to-end encryption to vID and carrier fallback, here's how Modlin™ Chat works.
Modlin™ Chat is a peer-to-peer chat platform made for private communication. It lets you chat directly with another person when possible. You can use it with an IP address and port, or sign in with vID to use a username.
Peer-to-peer means your device can connect directly to another device without a chat server in the middle. Modlin™ Chat can use local networks, the Internet, UDP, TCP, or WebRTC, depending on the connection available.
Yes. Modlin™ Chat uses end-to-end encryption based on Signal's security standards. This protects your message content between you and the person you are talking to.
No. You can use Modlin™ Chat without an account by using a reachable address. You can also sign in with vID if you want to use a permanent username.
vID is Modlin's unified identity service. With vID, you can use a username instead of using your IP address as your main way to identify yourself. vID can also manage your phone number and other information connected to your account.
Some networks block direct connections because of NAT, firewalls, or carrier restrictions. When this happens, Modlin™ Chat can use another available connection method instead of stopping the message.
Yes. Modlin™ Chat can use RCS, SMS, or MMS when direct peer-to-peer communication is not possible or when you want to use normal phone messaging. Modlin Chat keeps its own identity and encryption layer when using these transports.
Modlin™ Chat is designed for web, mobile, desktop, CLI, and SSH. You can use the same chat protocol on different devices and choose the interface that works best for you.
Start chatting with Modlin™ Chat. No account required. Choose your client, connect, and let the conversation begin.
